The Rev. Katherine Douglass

The Rev. Katherine Douglass began her ministry at Christ Lutheran Church as an interim pastor in November 2006. In July 2007, she accepted the call to beomce pastor, and her installation worship service was held in August, 2007. Pastor Douglass is a graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg and served 10 years as pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Johnstown. Before her seminary studies, she worked in health care finance and administration and was the Director of Planning and Analysis at the West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown. During her years at Johnstown, she was very involved in synodical activities and served two terms as dean of the Johnstown Conference and chaired the Synod's Leadership Committee. Most recently, Pastor Douglass served two years as a parish pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in France, as a Global Mission Associate. She is on the board of Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries, serving as secretary.

Ministry Assistant -  Deanne Armagost
Deanne is the staff person assigned to the Christian Education and Care Ministry Teams and Stewardship Committee. She coordinates contemporary worship services and volunteer activities and also performs various administrative tasks. Deanne is a graduate of Penn State and has completed the Allegheny Synod's Discerning Your Discipleship program. She is authorized in the areas of Lay Worship Leader, Christian Education and Catechism. She preaches one Sunday each month. She is the catechism opening game leader and also occasionally teaches catechism. She is the Chair of the Allegheny Synod Assembly Committee and serves on the Allegheny Synod Campus Ministry Committee.

Secretaries - Melissa Keen & Joyce Cramer
Melissa is in the office Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - Noon.  Her duties include greeting visitors, answering phones and other general office duties.  Joyce is responsible for bulletins and the monthly Parish Chatter as well as other general office duties.

Organists/Senior Choir Director - -  Ken Waznak, our Sunday morning organist and Senior Choir Director, began serving at Christ Lutheran on April 6, 2008.  Ken, a resident of Falls Creek, was organist and choir director at Tabor Lutheran Church in Kane for seven years.  Prior to that, he served as organist and choir director at Lutheran, Episcopal, and Roman Catholic churches in the Altoona area.  He is a member of the American Guild of Organists and the Association of Anglican Musicians. Ken also plays for Saturday evening worship services. Marianne Atkinson serves as organist for two Saturday evening services.

Contemporary Musicians - Tim & John Chelednik, Bill Clyde, Jason Deasey & Linda Olewnick
The Contemporary worship musicians lead the 9:45 am worship service. Tim Chelednik, Contemporary Worship Music Team Leader, plays the electric guitar. His son, John, plays the bass guitar. Bill Clyde is on electric acoustic guitar. Jason Deasey plays the bongo drums. Linda Olewnick is the piano accompanist.

Sextons - Mike & Cheryl Roy
Mike & Cheryl are responsible for all janitorial duties for our church building.

Treasurer -  Linda McCloskey
Linda is responsible for accounts payable, payroll, and all financial reporting.

Financial Secretary - Debbie Brubaker
Debbie is responsible for recording all the offerings.  She also compiles the year-end report of member giving.

Appointed Leader

Pastor Emeritus - Pastor Vernon J. Miller
Pastor Miller served as pastor of Christ Lutheran from 1984-89 when he retired.  He continues to be active in retirement.  He is a member of the Finance Committee and leads the Men's Bible study at Christ Lutheran.  He also serves as a supply pastor to different congregations.  Pastor Miller has three children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
